  • All residents of the town of Fairmount, town of Fowlerton, and  Fairmount Township are entitled to full use of the Fairmount Public Library free of charge.
  •  Liberty Township(Grant County) residents may sign up for library services.  The Township Trustee will be charged the state-mandated Non-Resident fee.
  • Residents from  Green Township(Grant County) may obtain library borrowing privileges by paying an annual $25.00 individual or family membership fee.  However, non-resident preschool and elementary students may participate in the Fairmount Library's Summer Reading program, free of charge.
  • Library card holders from Swayzee, Upland, Elwood and Summitville may obtain a Fairmount Public Library card by showing the proper ID and their local library card.  We have a reciprocal borrowing agreement with these libraries.
  • PLAC (Public Library Access Card) is a statewide library card.  For an annual fee, the individual cardholder may visit and check out materials from any Indiana public library and the Indiana State Library in Indianapolis.

Loan Periods

Books - All patrons may check out up to five books for a two week period. Books may be renewed.


Magazines - All patrons may check out up to four magazines for a one week period. Magazines may be renewed.


Videos - The library provides children's and family videos for entertainment purposes. Any library cardholder may check out up to two videos per card for a two day period.  Videos may be renewed.


Audio - Audio books, abridged and unabridged formats, are offered for adult patrons for a one week period.  Audiobooks may be renewed.

 

DVDS -  Two  DVDs may be checked out for a two day period by adult library card holders.  DVDs may be renewed.


MUSIC CDS -  Adult and Teen patrons may check out 1 cd for 2 days and may renew it one time.


Fees/Fines

Overdue Books and magazines will be fined $.05c a day per item for late items. There is a grace period of one week before late fees are applied.*



Overdue Audio books, DVDs, Videos, and Music CDs will be fined $1.00 a day per item for late items. There is a one-day  grace period.*



Kits to Go (Multi-media) will be fined $2.00 a day per kit.  There is no grace period.*



Photocopying Fees
- Letter Size:  $.10c/page
- Legal Size:  $.15c/page
 
Computer Copy Fees
- Black Ink: $.10c/page
- Color Ink (when available): $1.00/page
 
Lamination Fees (varies by size)
- Library Card size: $ .50c/item
- 8 1/2" x 11":  $ .60c/item
- Poster size:  starting at $2.00
 
Fax Service Fees
- Cover letter is free of charge
- First Page:  $1.00
- Additional Pages: $.50c/each
 
*Overdue fines will not be charged for any day that the library is closed.

 


Computer & Internet Usage

  • To utilize the computers at the library, you must have a Patron Computer Usage Application on file.  Children under the age of 18, must have a parent or guardian (18 & older) present when the application is filled out. 
  • Computer usage is set up for one-hour time slots.  Additional time may be granted if no one else is signed up for the following time slot.
  • Computer usage is granted on a first come first serve basis. Time may be reserved in advance in person or by calling the library.
  • Adults may sign up for free e-mail accounts on those web sites that offer them as well as access to chat rooms as long as the general rules of computer usage, material being accessed, and general laws are followed as stated in the Computer & Internet Usage Policy.
  • E-mail accounts and chat room access are not allowed to children under the age of 18, unless parents give their permission in written format.
  • Teens, ages 14-17 must have a Social Networking Permission Slip filled out by a parent or guardian before they may access sites, such as MYSPACE , FACEBOOK, or other similiar websites.
